Terms, Conditions and Contest Rules

.0   Each participant must be a legal resident of the United States at least eighteen years old. This contest is void where prohibited.

.0   Each participant certifies that they created the work (work product) submitted by them and they have the exclusive intellectual property rights for that work, i.e., it is an original work created by them and no other.

.0   There is a $10 entry fee for writers who submit a work product. There is no fee for reviewers.

.0   The reviewers will judge, rate, and comment on each written submission. Each entry is awarded 10 points for each star (one to five) for each of the three-hurdle category, and an additional 50 points for an affirmative answer to the final question. The sum of all the points awarded by all reviewers during the contest is divided by the number of days the entry was available online for review.  If an entry A was made on the very first day, it would be available for 120 days. If  entry B was made on the last day of the entry period, it would be available for 60 days. The points accumulated for entry A would be divided by 120. The points accumulated by entry B would be divided by 60. The participant with the highest score wins. In case of a tie, a panel of independent editors appointed by the contest promoter will choose the winner.

.0   The contest will have two phases. The Entry phase, 60 days or upon entry of 50 participants, whichever is later. The Review Phase nominally will be and additional 60 days. During the Review Phase, no further entries to that contest will be entered. Each entry will be available for review not less than 60 days. The Contest Promoter reserves the right to adjust the length of the two phases based upon the number of entries and number of reviews to improve the viability of the contest.

.0   Each Reviewing participant will judge each entry, and do so only once. Any reviewer found to be “stuffing the box”, i.e., entering multiple reviews to change the outcome of the contest will be disqualified and have their reviews deleted from contention. Furthermore, any Reviewer using an automated method of entering reviews, or an obvious cavalier methodology of reviewing will be disqualified. Use of profane, abusive, or other offensive language will be disqualified. The Reviewers are encouraged to use incisive, yet kind and constructive criticism. The Reviewer with the most reviews will join the winner’s circle. Independent editors, appointed by the contest promoter, will choose the winner based upon the quality of the commentary in the reviews. Their choice will be final and the prize awarded to that Reviewer.

.0   The primary method of entry is entering the information on the contest promoter’s website. Alternatively, an entry can be made by typing the required information, and sending it to:
Contest, 11376 Broadview Drive, Moorpark, CA 93201. The required information must arrive by the dates noted on the web site as the cutoff for Entry and Review.

.0   The contest is based upon skill of writing, and the quality of reviewing. The odds of winning are based upon the number of entries and the quality of the writing or reviewing by the entrant.

.0  The participant and the contest promoter acknowledge that the work product submitted by the participant and published by the contest promoter constitute “fair-use” according to copyright law. In the event of any litigation by a third-party against the promoter  based upon the participant’s work product published in good faith by the promoter, the  participant will indemnify and hold the contest promoter harmless.
